For very experienced bushwalkers only with good fitness & all day hike equipment.
Equipment should include a P.L.B. - GPS & Compass. Also a Topographical Map or print out Google Sat image.
There is limited phone reception only on the high points.
The hike makes use of the Tabletop Track but there are 2 sections of no trail or trail markers. The first is approx 750 mts between waypoints sc1 & sc2. The second section of approx 400 mts is between sc3 & the walking track to Upper Cascades Pools.
Also my route deviates off the tabletop track between Trail Mark 1 & Trail Mark 2 to investigate a waterfall on the edge of the escarpment. This was a bit of a disappointment & not worth the deviation.
Between the waypoint 'Waterfall' & the waypoint 'Camp Site Poor' the terrain is steeper & rocky & the existing trail markers are difficult to find. Camp Site Poor is unshaded.
So the vehicle is parked at Cascades Car Park very early. Bike ride of approx 7 km to Wangi Falls Carpark. Chain the bike up. Walk the walk approx 10km. Drive vehicle back to Wangi & pick up the bike.
Remember to start early - on the bike before sunrise - & aim to be at waypoint 'Waterfall' by 0930am.
The waterfalls are best before June.
There are creeks that will be drying up by August so take plenty of water.
REMEMBER to visit the Fire North website at
This will indicate if the area is burning or recently burnt because Park Rangers use fire dropped from helicopters as their main method of weed control. If you see or smell smoke do not proceed or move to the Waterfall areas.
