Bushwalk is easy & follows the Tabletop Walking track & the Central 4wd track for most of the way. A little cross country over spongy ground is required to access the Tabletop track from the Upper Cascades loop walk & then also a shortcut section to reach Camp 1 Walkers creek.
For capable & fully equipped bushwalkers. No phone reception. No water between Upper Cascades Creek & Walker Creek. Leave early to avoid the afternoon heat as much as possible.
Best months are between March & May when the creeks are still flowing strongly but be aware that the Lower Cascades Creek is crocodile accessible & the Rangers often do not reinstate the first bridge until July
Check Fire North website http://www.firenorth.org.au/nafi3/ to see if there are weed reduction burns in the area. Rangers usually burn in June or July. If you see or smell smoke head for the creeks or the Central 4wd track.
This walk was taken soon after the burn off & it would be better looking country if a little more time had elapsed for recovery. Unfortunately there are many native species that are in serious decline in Litchfield because of this burning process
