Hiking Via Dinarica Montenegro, Durmitor
Žabljak is the administrative, comercial, and cultural centre of an expansive high plain region which consists of Durmitor Massif, the high plain of Jezera and a large part of the Sinjavina Mountains. With 1440m it is the Balkans highest minicipality and adjoining mountain villages, Pitomine (1530m) and Bosača (1560m), are even higher up. The inhabitants of these villages continue the tradition of animal husbandry and lately increasingly engage in bucolic tourism. Žabljak has long been the most renowned centre for mountain tourism in Montenegro. There are numerous sports and recreation offers: hiking, mountaineering, skiing, spelunking, mountain biking, rafting on the Tara river etc.
Sources: Long Distance Trail - Transversal, Across the mountains of Montenegro
