Itinerary description

Km 0–5, the trail passes in a pleasant pine forest along several elongated lakes (used to be the riverbed of the river Gauja in ancient times). The water is brownish and very soft (from the marshes along the coastline) with unofficial sandy beaches now and then).
Km 5–10: the trail passes through quiet paved street of two settlements (Gauja & Carnikava) and crosses the river Gauja between them. In Carnikava, there is a full range of services available: shops, cafes, a post office, a tourist information office...
Km 10–16: along trails in a pine forest again.
Km 16–23: along the beach of the Baltic Sea/Gulf of Rīga; alternatively (if it's windy), one can follow a trail paralel to the coast-line in the forest.
Km 23–26: along quiet paved streets in the settlement of Vecāķi; if not tired yet, you can ascend a 15m-high dune within the settlement.
From the end point of the trail, you can reach downtown Rīga by train (hourly; 25min) or by bus #24 (two or three times hourly; 45min.
Total ascent minimal (up to 50m). Every ~3km, there is a train stop nearby (0...2km from the trail; train timetable https://www.pv.lv/en/): you can cut your walk short if you wish/need.
